DESCRIPTION:How do people persuade\, influence\, and shape public opinion?
How have rhetorical strategies changed across different historical period
s\, cultures\, and media environments? Inspired by the interdisciplinary a
pproach of the Turku Institute for Advanced Studies (TIAS)\, the event bri
ngs together scholars from diverse fields to explore rhetoric as a multifa
ceted form of communication and symbolic action. From speech and writing t
o visual media and gestures\, this seminar examines how persuasive practic
es operate and evolve within various sociocultural\, linguistic\, and hist
orical contexts. Featuring eight presentations from a range of disciplinar
y perspectives\, the event offers new insights into the significance of rh
etoric in society\, politics\, and everyday life. You are warmly welcome!\
